Mark of the Fool

Alex Roth has dreamed of attending the great magical university of Generasi his entire life. But on the day the Mark is bestowed, he receives the Mark of the Fool—a cursed mark that forces its bearer into the role of a doomed hero destined to fight the Ravener, and which punishes him for studying conventional combat magic.

Rather than accept his fate, Alex decides to outsmart the Mark. He'll abandon the hero's path, escape his hometown, and enroll at Generasi to study magic on his own terms—exploiting every loophole the Mark allows. A clever, academy-focused progression fantasy about turning a curse into an advantage.
