Gods from another world shuffle Earth like a deck of cards, and Jake — slacking off in the cooler of the corner market under his apartment — walks out into a planet of monsters and dungeons. Stranger still, elf-like travelers start knocking on the shop door, wanting to buy.
Progression: a collectible card system — powers come from the cards Jake finds and the deck he builds, with the market itself as a second engine of growth.
Reader fit: you want a system apocalypse built on odd mechanics and wit rather than grim survival, in a finished trilogy.
Texture: brisk, playful, adventurous.
